As a follow up to yesterday's post, I have come up with a thought. The fact that Catholics are as likely to vote for one presidential candidate as another demonstrates the importance of political candidates discussing their faith. It is not enough to adopt a particular label, such as Methodist, or Lutheran, or Catholic, because those labels clearly don't tell us anything. People might identify themselves as the member of a particular religion, but you really need to talk with them for a while before you can pretend to know anything about their beliefs.
